Valentine Tea Party Pictures

Here are some Valentine tea party pictures from our last Valentine's party.

There was a slight snafu as my oldest daughter had invited a couple of girlfriends who - at the last minute - were unable to come. So our guest list shrunk by almost half and I had made some of the food already! This was music to the ears of the older brothers who get to snack on the left-overs!

My six year old son wanted very, very badly to come to the tea party. His sister was not too excited over the prospect of "a boy in our midst." She did not mind so much when the girlfriends could not come, at least that was another guest at the table!

Said brother did have to be taught a few table manners such as "no, you do not lunge over your sister's plate to reach the sugar...what about, 'could you pass the sugar' instead!" It was a novel thought for him but he liked it.

We still all had a great time!

Valentine Tea Party Pictures - 2010

My daughter felt she needed to "dress up" so she put on her favorite dress. Her brothers bought it for her used from Goodwill for a few dollars. A great buy don't you think?

Goodwill - or any second hand stores - are great places to find "dress up clothes" as well as some tea party supplies. Ebay is also a good place to find wonderful deals.

My son also wanted to "dress up"...baseball and cape of course! Now THAT is perfect tea party attire!

Since most of our guests would be a no-show, we decided to have a "cozier" set up than first planned and I must say that it turned out beautifully.

We set up the table by the wood burning stove. Some white linen, plates, tea cups, rose petals and two candle centerpieces made with Valentine's Day candy. It looked very pretty.

Those were good but a bit too much chocolate for the girls. However, they are just right for a two year old baby brother it seems!

These were tied for second place with the scones.

  • Cucumber Sandwiches: These were #1 recipe for the day. They were a hit. We used the modern recipe with cream cheese.
