Fun and Easy Tea Sandwich Recipes





Here are some tea sandwich recipes. Tea sandwiches are usually bite size and are served along other foods during tea parties.

Usually tea sandwiches are halved into triangles. On occasion, when you want some tiny tea sandwiches for tea party, you can used some cookie cutters to cut them into various shapes.

In England, tea sandwiches are served during afternoon tea time to tie you over until dinner.

Tea sandwiches are small in size because they should be easy to handle and they should also be able to be eaten in a couple of bites. They are not meant to be a meal but rather part of a "snack."

Nowadays, tea sandwiches are made of a variety of breads although traditionally they are made out of white bread. The bread crust is always removed after the sandwich has been assembled. More modern bread variations for tiny tea sandwiches are:

  • Whole wheat

  • Pumpernickel

  • Sour dough

  • Rye

The fillings for tea sandwiches vary but they are usually light and "delicate." The spreads can me made out a variety of foods. Two favorite spreads are cream cheese and/or mayonnaise. Tiny tea sandwiches for tea party can be made with:

  • Fresh vegetables such as radishes, cucumber, asparagus, or watercress

  • Meats such as chicken, turkey and ham

  • Fish such as smoked salmon
