Strawberries are liked - and enjoyed - almost by all. You may be surprised to find out that they were considered poisonous in Argentina until the mid-1800s. Here are some other fun facts about strawberries.

  • There are over 20 species of strawberry plants.

  • In the United States, the strawberry industry makes over 1.3 BILLION dollars annually.

  • The top producer of strawberries worldwide is the United States. The number 2 is Spain.

Strawberry Tea Recipe

Strawberry Iced Tea: Ingredients

  • 16 ounces of frozen strawberries - or 1 pint of fresh

  • 4 cups of tea

I used Earl Grey icon for the bergamot in this tea marries well with strawberries. You may choose any tea of your choice.

  • 1/3 cup of sugar

  • 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice

  • Ice

Strawberry Tea Recipe: Method

Make the tea and set aside.

If you are using frozen strawberries:

Place the frozen strawberries in a blender. Pour some hot tea and turn the blender on. Make sure all the strawberries are well blended.

At this point, you can choose to strain the strawberries with some cheesecloth - I don't.

Add the lemon juice and the sugar. Again turn the blender on and blend well. Pour into a pitcher and place in the fridge until ready to serve.

If you are using fresh strawberries:

Place the fresh strawberries in a blender. Pour some cooled tea and turn the blender on. Make sure all the strawberries are well blended.

At this point, you can choose to strain the strawberries with some cheesecloth - I don't.

Add the lemon juice and the sugar. Again turn the blender on and blend well. Make sure the sugar is all dissolved. Pour into a pitcher and place in the fridge until ready to serve.

When ready to serve, mix with a spoon - as some of the pulp will settle - and serve on ice.

Note: Some of my children enjoyed making homemade popsicles with this strawberry tea.
