Recipe for Rose Scones ~ Comments and reviews.

Rose Scones

Rose Petal Scones: Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup butter - cold

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tablespoon rose water

Rose Petal Scones: Method

In a large bowl, place the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and the salt. Add the cold butter cut into chunks.

Method 1: Use a pastry blended to cut in the butter into the flour mixture.

Method 2: My preferred method...get your hands dirty. Use the tip of your fingers to blend the butter into the flour mixture.

The butter-flour mixture will resemble coarse salt.

Add the rose water, the rose petals and the heavy cream. Mix with a fork - or with your fingers. Drop onto a floured surface and roll to about 1/2 inch. Cut them with a cookie - or a biscuit cutter - and place on a greased cookie sheet.

Note: I cut mine into the shape of mini flowers with a cookie cutter. If you choose to do this - mini scones - you will need to reduce the baking time by a minute or so.

Rose Scones

Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes - 8-10 for minis.

After they have baked and cooled a tad, you can frost your rose petal scones - recipe below.

Glaze for Rose Petal Scones

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons rose water

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk

Mix the sugar with the milk and rose water until all the ingredients are well blended.

Note: If you use 1 tablespoon of rose water then use 3 tablespoons of milk. If you use 2 tablespoons of rose water, use 2 tablespoons of milk. Adjust to your likes and needs.
