Pirate Party Decoration Ideas

When we came up with our pirate party decoration ideas, there was one thing I wanted to avoid...creepiness. This was supposed to be a kid tea party and I wanted to avoid the skulls and skeletons. Moreover, to be perfectly honest, I am sick and tired of the "death" look for kids...skulls on t-shirts, skulls on hats, skulls everywhere. Death is part of being alive, we must all go through it...but finding it all over the place is not my thing. Now you decorate however you want! Your party is your party.

These are just ideas! Nothing more, nothing less.

For us it all started when the kids wanted to have a tea party on the spur of the moment: a friend - a boy - was moving and he asked to have a tea party. We just had a few days to plan AND I wanted a masculine theme.

The idea of a scavenger hunt sounded wonderful to me and to the kids. So after that the pirate idea came along but I focused it more on the tropical side than the skull and crossbones side.

After that it came together really easily.

Decorating for a Pirate Party

If you are on a small budget, here are some ideas:

You can make a candle centerpiece and use sand inside. Also a flesh - or sand colored - table cloth would be neat. If you have sand close by, you could sprinkle some on the table but you also run the risk of ending up with sand in your food - especially if the party is for kids. Buy chocolate coins and chocolate candy that is wrapped in silver and gold foil and sprinkle all over the table. I also sprinkle here and there some gummy fish. The kids loved it.

If finances are less of an issue, here are some ideas:

Pirate Party Decoration Ideas You can buy a personalized pirate ship! Which child would not love that?

Pirate Party Decoration Ideas You can place a mini palm tree by each place setting.

Pirate Party Decoration Ideas You can use a few coconut candles.

These are just a few ideas for pirate party decorations...there are many more! Have fun Matey!
