This is a wonderful and refreshing Mexican hibiscus tea recipe.
What is hibiscus?
Hibiscus is a beautiful flowering plant from the mallow family.
They grown in warm, temperate, subtropical and tropical climates all around the world. You will find hibiscus in other tea recipes sometimes
referred to as sorrel, rosemallow, flor de Jamaica or Jamaica. Hibiscus flowers emit a beautiful red tint - hence the rich red color of this tea -
which can stain if you are not careful.
Not only is Jamaica tea a wonderful refreshing beverage on hot summer days but it is also good for you!

This recipe will make one gallon of tea.
Mexican Iced Tea Recipe: Method
Place the dried hibiscus flowers in a large pot. Pour the hot water on top and cover. Let steep for 20 minutes.

Strain your tea. Be careful as this tea will stain!
Put the sugar into a one gallon container. Add about 4 cups of the hot tea and mix until all the sugar is dissolved.
Add the ice carefully to this mixture.
Add the rest of the tea and mix with a spoon. Top off with cold water. It is ready to serve.
Adjust the sweetness if desired. Also you can replace the sugar with agave syrup or honey.
You can decorate your glass with a slice of lime or lemon, or even a sprig of fresh mint.
