Lavender Scones
With Lemon Glaze

This is a delicious and easy recipe for lavender scones.

You may be surprised to discover that you can actually cook with lavender flowers. However, you must use caution, there are different kinds of lavender flowers and not all of them are used in cooking.

If you find a recipe with lavender most of the time this is referring to English Lavender also known as Lavandula Angustifolia. The main reason for this choice is for the sweet fragrance of this lavender. The other lavender which also used in cooking is True Lavender also called Lavendula Angustifolia Officianalis.

Only use sources of lavender that have an organic label on them and that sell edible lavender.

After you make these scones then please come back and leave a review!

Lavender Flower Scones: Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp. salt

  • 1/2 cup butter - cold

Note: I would only use Young Living essential oils.

  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Lavender Flower Scones: Method

In a large bowl, place the flour, sugar, baking powder and the salt. Add the cold butter into chunks.

Method 1: Use a pastry blender to cut in the butter into the flour mixture.

Method 2: My preferred method...get your hands dirty. Use the tip of your fingers to blend the butter into the flour mixture.

The butter-flour mixture will resemble coarse sand.

Add the milk and the vanilla. Mix with a fork - or with your fingers. Drop onto a floured surface and roll to about 1/2 inch. Cut them with a cookie - or a biscuit cutter and place on a greased cookie sheet.

Note: To make the decorations, use some left over dough and roll it out really thin. Cut into shape with mini cookie cutters. Before placing them on top of your scone, dip in water. The water will act as glue.

Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes.

After they have baked and cooled a tad, you can frost your scones - recipe below.
