Pin It Sample Some Irish TeasIrish teas are usually quite robust in flavor...that's the way the Irish like it! They also like to add quite a bit of milk which they pour first before adding the tea. You may be very surprised to find out that Ireland ranks first for tea consumption per capita - meaning per the amount of people- in the whole world! In fact, the national average is four cups per person per day. This also means that the Irish people are very serious about their teas and their tea time. Tea breaks are no small matter and are respected by all. Even though historically, it was the upper class which introduced tea - which is called "cha" in slang - to Ireland, Irish tea time is now enjoyed by all. Morning tea usually take place at about 11 in the morning. At this time, the tea blends are usually quite strong. Afternoon tea - which is by far the fanciest spread - is served between 3 and 5 in the afternoon. It is often served with sweets such Irish cookies and scones served with butter, jam, lemon curds, vanilla cream and other toppings. Evening tea - which is also referred as "High Tea," and even supper or dinner - is served at around 6 or 7 o'clock and is served in place of the evening meal. During this meal you will be served cold meats, vegetables, and sweets. ![]() St. Patrick Tea RecipeTea Blends
