Pin It Recipe for Hot Dog SconesThese tasty hot dog scones are a cinch to make. These scones were birthed when I decided to come up with a scone for a 4th of July tea party. Hot dogs seemed like the perfect all American 4th of July event. So I decided to make this recipe. Now, my kids were not so sure. One of them announced - very loudly - "sounds disgusting!" However, I was not deterred and made them and there were a hit! But don't you take my word for it. Give them a try and then please come back to leave your review. Hot Dog Scone Recipe: MethodIn a medium size bowl, place the flour, cornmeal and the baking powder. Add the pieces of butter. I like to use my fingers for this step but a pastry blender will work as well. Between your fingers rub the flour mixture and the butter together until it resembles coarse sand. ![]() ![]() Add the salt and combine well. Add the beaten eggs and the buttermilk. Mix well with a fork until the mixture forms a sticky dough. Add the cheese and the hot-dog pieces. Mix together. ![]() ![]() Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead the dough until it holds together. Divide the dough in half and roll each half into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into eight wedges. Repeat this process with the second half of the dough. ![]() Place each wedge onto a greased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
