Make Cheese and Ham Tea Sandwiches

We made these cheese and ham tea sandwiches for my daughter's 10th birthday party. We made them in the shape of flowers to go with her garden tea party theme but you could individualize them to suit your needs or just make regular tea sandwiches. They are open faced sandwiches - this also can be modified.

They were very easy to make and these simple ham and cheese tea sandwiches were a great hit.

You know that most people like ham and cheese so this makes these tea sandwiches a nice neutral choice especially if your tea party will have some children who may not enjoy more refined tea sandwiches.

As always pictures of your creations as well as a review of this recipe is welcome. You may leave a review by using this simple form.

Ham Tea Sandwiches

Ham and Cheese Tea Sandwiches: Ingredients

  • Sliced ham - I used black forest

  • Sliced cheese

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon sour cream

  • 1 teaspoon mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • Bread of your choice - sliced

  • Cookie cutter - optional

Ham and Cheese Tea Sandwiches: Method

Mix the mayonnaisse, sour cream, mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper until you have a smooth spread.

Spread a thin layer of the mayo mixture on a slice of bread. If you choose to cut your bread in a certain shape - for example, a flower - do this now with the cookie cutter.

If you choose to make regular tea sandwiches, then place a slice of ham onto the bread and then a slice of cheese. Cut into triangles - remove the crust.

If you want to make a regular sandwich - rather than open faced - place another piece of bread on top of your sandwich after you spread the mayo mixture on one side. Cut into triangles after removing the crust.

If you want to make the flower sandwiches. Cut the ham with the cookie cutter. Place on the bread. Then cut the cheese in the shape of a flower as well and place on top of the ham. We use a smaller cookie cutter to make a tiny flower with the cheese scraps, which we placed on top to make it look like the center of the flower.

Note: We had a hard time cutting the ham into shape so we just cut it in tiny pieces.

Make as many as you need.
