Recipe for Cherry Tassies

These cherry tassies are just bite size yumminess, they are perfect for tea parties or cookie exchange parties.

What are tassies?

Tassies - pronounsed tas-eez - are the contents of a cup or goblet. In short, it means these cookies are made in a cup...in this case a muffin cup. So they are indeed bite size.

These cherry almond tassies are delicious and beautiful since they are each topped with a maraschino cherry.

What is a maraschino cherry?

It is a cherry preserved in a syrup flavored with real or imitation maraschino. As for maraschino - pronounced mare-uh-SKEE-noh - it is a sweet liqueur distilled from the fermented juice of a bitter wild cherry. Most maraschino cherries you will find in the grocery store in the United Stattes, do not contain true maraschino but rather an imitation maraschino.

So topped with a cherry and loaded with butter, how can these tassies not be good huh?
