Charity Tea Party Decorations

by Cathy Mann
(Columbia, Md.)

I went to a charity tea party 2 years ago. Everyone wore hats. Big hats, small hats, store bought and homemade hats.

They gave out prizes for best tables and for the best hats.

My hat was a store bought hat that I had doctored up with flowers and a satin bow, and wouldn't you know it, it was a winner. I had so much fun that I asked if I might be able to host a table the following year.

I had a ball planning the table decor. From the pale green depression glass china to the polished silver tea services that I had scouted out at the local thrift shops.

The center piece was the crowning glory as all the other tables had short little fresh flower arrangements. Our table had tall black garden hooks adorning pretty little lanters among pale green hydranga branches.

All this was surrounded by fruit, finger sandwiches, scones, tea biscuits & goodies.

I am now working on this year's table.

My theme is "Alice in Wonderland", even trying to make a pink flamingo hat. I'll be sure to post another picture when it's over.

Hope you enjoy.
