Candy Cane Tea

Candy Cane Tea : Ingredients

The list of ingredients below is for 2 persons. You will need to adjust the recipe according to the amount of guests you expect to serve.

  • 2 teaspoons of good quality loose leaf black tea icon - not a commercial grade tea

Note: Commercial tea is tea that you find on the shelves of most grocery stores. You cannot see any loose leaves in the bag, the content is all powdery. This tea is of much inferior grade and not worth using. A good quality tea will taste much richer and will have a much better aroma. It will also contain the healthy benefits of tea.

  • 1 quarter of an orange

  • Mini candy canes

  • 16 to 20 oz ounces of clean, pure water - avoid tap if chlorinated

Candy Cane Christmas Tea : Method

About 30 minutes before serving, in a pot, place the cinnamon, orange and water and bring to a boil. Then, turn the heat down and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Turn the heat off and strain.

Just before serving, take a teapot and rinse it under hot water. Place your loose tea leaves in the pot and pour the flavored water on top. Steep 3 to 5 minutes.

Place a candy cane in your tea cup and pour the tea on top. Remember to use a tea strainer!

Note: An alternative method would be to steep the tea in another pot. Strain the tea after 5 minutes of steeping . Then place the finished tea in the tea pot you want to use for the party. That way you do not need to mess with a strainer and you can make your tea in advance.
